One scan, eight views
Every view is the same scan, so you can switch instantly. Click to select, double-click a folder to focus on it, and zoom in until the labels you need appear.
Each subfolder is a card with its size, share of the parent and its three dominant file types. Prefer a list? One click switches to an expandable tree.
Best for walking down from the top until you find it.
Rings radiate out from the scan root. Each ring is one level deeper and each arc is sized by bytes, so the heaviest branches jump out.

Depth runs top to bottom and size left to right, so a long chain of nested folders reads like a stack trace.

Find the weight, then clear it
Clutterscope totals the usual suspects as soon as the scan finishes, each with a plain explanation of what it is and whether it comes back.
Each app is listed with its true footprint: the bundle plus the caches, preferences, HTTP storage, logs and containers it scattered across ~/Library.
Add to Cleanup puts items on a list, not in the bin. Review the whole set, then move it to the Trash in one step, where it can be restored until you empty it.

Save a scan and hold it against a later one to see exactly which folders grew while you weren’t looking. In the example, Docker’s disk image grew by 18 GB in three months.

How it works
Open the disk image and drag Clutterscope into Applications. It’s signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS checks it and opens it after the usual one-time confirmation.
On first launch, paste the licence key from your purchase email and choose Activate. You do this once on each Mac.

macOS keeps Mail, Messages, Safari and other apps’ containers private. A guided sheet opens the right Settings pane, lets you drag the app straight into the list, and notices the moment you switch it on.

Safety and privacy
Items move only when you press Move to Trash, and they go to the Trash, not straight to deletion.
The places macOS depends on can’t be staged at all. The rules are checked when you stage and again right before removal.
Scanning, hashing and duplicate matching all run on your Mac. There’s no account, no sync and no analytics. The only connection is a licence check once a day, which never includes your files or scan results.
Every release is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

Not on its own. Items are staged on a list you review first, and Move to Trash sends them to the Trash, where you can restore them until you empty it. System-critical locations can’t be staged at all.
macOS keeps Mail, Messages, Safari data and other apps’ containers private. With access, those folders are counted and app leftovers in containers can be removed. Without it, everything else still works and protected folders show as unreadable.
Never your files or scan results. Scanning, hashing and duplicate matching happen locally, and there’s no account, no sync and no analytics. The app connects only to check its licence: when you activate, and then once a day while you’re online. That check sends the activation code, a one-way code that identifies the Mac, and the Mac’s name.
You pay ₹499 once and the licence is yours for life. It works on any Mac, one Mac at a time. After activation Clutterscope works without an internet connection; when your Mac is online it checks the licence once a day.
Enter your key on the new Mac. Clutterscope tells you which Mac is using it and offers Move to This Mac. The old Mac stops working the next time it goes online. You can also free the key first from Settings, Licence, Deactivate This Mac.

Yes. Scan your whole Mac, your home folder, or any folder or mounted volume, including external SSDs and network shares. A scan stays on the drive you chose, so nothing is counted twice.
By content, not by name. Files of the same size are compared by a SHA-256 of their first 64 KB, and only candidates that still match are hashed in full. Files under 64 KB are skipped by default; you can change that in Settings.
No. A file with several hard links occupies its space once, so Clutterscope counts its bytes once, which keeps totals honest for things like Homebrew and Git object stores.
For any selection: size on disk and logical size, how much APFS compression saved, file and folder counts, its share of the parent folder, created, modified and last-opened dates, and the largest items inside.
